THE POSITION

We are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in performing civil rights outreach coordination. As Pennsylvania's civil rights leader, it is our vision that all people in Pennsylvania will live, work, and learn free from unlawful discrimination. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Civil Rights Outreach Coordinator (CROC) serves as a "Beloved Community Peacemaker" for communities facing conflict based on actual or perceived race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. In this role, you will work towards our mission of assisting communities in coming together to develop community based and evidenced based solutions to the presenting conflict and enhance the community's capacity to independently prevent and resolve future conflicts. Responsibilities include:

* Providing complex facilitation, mediation, and conciliation services for communities facing conflicts and tensions related to race, color, or nationality, pursuant to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related to race, color, nationality, LGBTQ+ status, gender, disability status, or religion, pursuant to the HCPA of 2009

* Providing training and consultation services to public officials and community representatives and provide them with the skills and mechanisms necessary to prevent and resolve future tensions

* Leading regional projects or initiatives, as assigned by leadership to improve CROC's visibility, ability to deliver services, and ability to anticipate and prevent conflict in jurisdictional communities

* Developing and implementing comprehensive outreach plans for each county/location assigned to you that target all jurisdictional communities in conjunction with the PHRC Advisory Councils and the PHRC Social Justice Ambassadors Program

* Serving as a mentor to staff by modeling professional behavior

* Providing advice regarding mediation, facilitation, conflict resolution practices and procedures, and identifies areas needed for improvement

* Performing other duties assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

* Full-time employment

* Travel will be required for this position.

* Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 1 day per week. You will be required to report in-office 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* One year as a Human Relations Representative 1 (commonwealth title); or

* Two years of professional administrative investigative, criminal investigative, regulatory investigative, or civil or human rights experience involving gathering evidence, interviewing, and reporting investigative findings; and a bachelor's degree that includes 12 credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field; or

* An equivalent combination of training and experience, that includes 12 college credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field.

Other Requirements:
