Job Summary This position is responsible for completing assigned commercial loan closings in accordance with the terms and conditions of the loan approval. This position is located in the Jackson, MS corporate office.
Primary and Essential Functions - Gather and review documentation required for commercial loan closings.
- Coordinate closings with external and internal counsel so that each commercial loan closing is performed as efficiently as possible.
- Produce internal commercial loan closing documentation and coordinate closing of all internal commercial loan closings using the Compliance One Lending System.
- Ensure all necessary commercial loan closing documents are produced, executed, recorded, and filed correctly.
- The loan closer will work closely with Loan Officers/Processors and Title companies to review Commitment Letters, Disclosures & closing packages.
- Responsible for working with title and escrow companies and attorneys and preparing and verifying final figures.
- Handles the loan from approval through funding and ensures all funding requirements are met.
- Maintain professional and positive contact with co-workers, customers and others to encourage solid cooperative working relationships and enhance Hope's image.
Secondary Functions - Monitor activity of all loan commitment packages and keep Commercial Loan Officers and other personnel informed/updated through the generation of weekly loan closing pipeline and checklist reports through the loan tracking system.
- Communicate funding and/or disbursement and other pertinent information to accounting department to ensure availability of funding.
- Manage closing package, follow-up information, and post-closing issues to ensure that all documentation is received by Loan Operations to properly document the loan.
- Assist VP of Loan Operations and other Loan Operations staff as needed.
- Follow and recommend updates for the loan closing procedures.
- Maintain/update Compliance One as necessary.
- Produce loan modifications/extensions as needed.
Regulatory Compliance Requirements - Must comply with provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- Must comply with requirements for filing UCC Lien Searches, Title Applications, Lien Searches, Title Policies, Flood Determinations, Business/Life Insurance Compliance, Surveys, Business licenses, etc.
- Must comply with all provisions of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)
- Must comply with all provisions of the Fair Credit Practice Rule
- Must comply with all provisions of the Flood Disaster Protection Act
- Must comply with all provisions of the National Flood Insurance Act
- Must comply with all provisions of the Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z)

Competencies/Skills - Ability to learn, use and create compliant commercial and commercial real estate loan documents for non-complex transactions with guidance.
- Ability to document SBA loan closings properly.
- Ability to read and interpret commercial loan closing documents, including title insurance policies.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to organize and effectively prioritize and manage workload.
- Strives to be innovate and forward thinking to fine tune processes that will result in a higher level of customer service and to develop confidence.
Desired Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred or equivalent experience. Paralegal training or experience a plus.
- One or more years of experience in loan documentation and closing. Preferred experience in commercial and commercial real estate lending and finance.
- Demonstrated strength in ability to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining appropriate attention to details.
