Job Description

The Data Center Manager provides leadership and working management of the Data Center and Virtualization teams and is responsible for the county's macro (server/SAN) and cloud compute, Active Directory environment, virtual platforms, data center methodologies, incident management, monitoring and reporting. The duties listed below are not all the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform. Works primarily with the Deputy Chief Information Officer and optionally with IT Management peers and/or IT Leadership to determine and approve timetables, resources, and training. Collaborates with internal staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to provide technical solutions to business problems. Ensures that corrective and preventative measures are performed on existing systems to reduce the likelihood of problem recurrence. Keep Data Center & Virtual systems upgraded to or above minimal viable standards within purview. Studies and evaluates business processes and coordinate meetings between multiple departments to provide for integration and sharing of common information to promote productivity and efficiency. Build strong relationship with user departments and other outside enterprises such as value-added resellers, service providers, vendors, and other governmental agencies. Serve as the team liaison. Graduation from an accredited two or four-year college or university, or specialized IT academy of higher learning with six (6) plus years of experience in data center/virtualization solutions supporting highly complex systems required. IT Certifications, training certificates, or equivalent credentials showcasing credibility should be attached to your application. Special knowledge, abilities, skills, physical requirements, and other factors: Proficiency in multiple Virtual Machine (VM) technologies including AHV, Citrix, and VMWare. Familiarity with various SAN solutions and related compute, memory, network, and software requirements. Ability to understand and adhere to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), reporting, and metrics pertinent to Gaston County's IT infrastructure. Minimally qualified applicants will start at 25% of the salary range: $44.79/hr.
