Job Description:

Real Life Dental is looking for an insurance specialist for our Blacksburg office. We offer a 4-day work week, monthly bonus oportunities, annual uniform allowance on top of great health/dental benefits, paid time off and holiday pay. We challenge you to find a better place to work!

The Insurance Specialist functions as an integral part of our exemplary Team and has a vital impact on positive cash flow to support continuous business growth. Qualified candidates must po ssess , and demons t rate profic iency in; basic and intermediate mathmatics, project management, computer applications, time management, organization, and communication. The Insurance Specialist will add value by using all available tools, resources, and processes to minimize outstanding accounts receivable and days in revenue.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1-2 years experience and knowledge of dental insurances.
• Experience with Dentrix Ascend is a plus
• Knowledge of English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Skilled in the use of standard office equipment, including telephones, calculators, copiers, fax, computers, and computer software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software)

The Insurance Specialist position requires the capability to always maintain accuracy and service with a smile when interacting with patients, patients representative, insurance carriers or other external/internal members.

Responsibilities:

Candidate must be a friendly, caring, goal and, team oriented individual that is self motivated and has strong math skills. We work hard as a team and are looking for someone to help us get to the next level.

• Study insurance plans used most frequently with patients to understand the various nuances to communicate more effectively
• Create and maintain insurance policies inside the practice management software
• Complete insurance eligibility checks
• Document basic insurance information in the patients file for quick reference
• Process and submit insurance claims daily
• Monitor and follow-up on outstanding claims
• Provide the appointment coordinator with patient names and amounts due, so effective collection over the counter can take place during the day
• Identify patients in the daily schedule who are a financial concern, note payment problems on the patients chart, and arranges a conference with them either before or at the time of the appointment
• Record all financial discussions with patients in their file
• Prepare and process patients statements each month on a regular billing cycle
• Make collection calls
• Solidify the financial agreement with the patient, such as payment amount and schedule
• Follow through with correspondence regarding collection when unable to contact the patient on the telephone
• Prepare and send uncollected accounts to collections with managers approval and follow through as needed
• Monitor patients whom collection agencies have contacted
• Send information as requested by insurance companies such as x-rays, charting, narratives, and other documentation for processing the claim when applicable
• Provide insurance predetermination documentation to patients, contacts the patient to make financial arrangements, and schedules treatment
• Correspond with insurance companies to resolve payment delays, requests for additional information, or to discuss denied treatment coverage
• Handle all inquiries concerning insurance daily
• Willing to help in other areas as needed
