Responsibilities Position Summary: The Mental Health Technician is defined as a member of the Mental Health Unit healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities: - Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.
- Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)
- Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output and daily activities.
- Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as needed.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crisis situations.
- Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies items.
- Assist with cleaning functions to maintain unit.
- Keep medical record updated, including legal requirements.
- Documents according to policy and procedure, standards and guidelines.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Certified nursing assistant home health aide nursing assistant or direct patient care experience
required along with 2 years of behavioral health experience required. - High School diploma or equivalent
- Has the ability to read speak and write English in order to perform the duties of the position
- Will maintain current competencies and certifications required
- Ability to:
- Work as a team member
- Work effectively under multiple demands and adjust priorities as circumstances require to meet staffing needs
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy and precision on consistent basis in the performance of procedures
- Treat coworkers patients physicians and family with dignity and respect
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all hospital staff
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Physically able to work stand stoop and lift
- Able to walk and stand at least 50% of the shift
- Good manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
