Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Advertisingor Marketing Proofreader and Copy Editor to join our Ad Agencies dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all written content across various advertising materials, including 360 campaigns, print ads, digital ads, website content, social media posts, marketing materials and email campaigns. This role requires a keen eye for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, as well as the ability to maintain brand voice and messaging consistency. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for creating polished and compelling copy. This position is a 6-month freelance role that is 40 hours weekly, hybrid 1-2x a week onsite.



Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for quality control by checking all of the creative deliverables including copy editing and proofreading.
  • Meticulously review content, copy, graphics, images and identifying and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, consistency, and syntax errors.
  • Review and revise content to ensure adherence to brand guidelines, tone of voice, and messaging strategy.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to ensure that copy aligns with visual elements and overall campaign objectives.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on all advertising materials before publication or distribution.
  • Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to writers and designers to enhance the effectiveness of advertising content.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high quality.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a proofreader, copy editor, or similar role in an advertising agency, marketing department, or publishing environment.
  • Exceptional proficiency in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies quickly.
  • Familiarity with style guides such as AP Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using editing software and tools, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Docs.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous advertising copywriting and editing work is highly desirable.
