GENERAL SUMMARY:
* This position will be used for staffing agency employees only.
Performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses CT technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Performs all types of CT studies to include diagnostic and interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
- Uses sterile technique as required.
- Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
- Performs venipuncture.
- Competently operates all CT equipment and support systems to include EPIC, PACS and teleradiography.
- Performs and evaluates images for technical quality.
- Reviews patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
- Properly cares for and imaging patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
- Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
- Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
- Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as required.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
- Keeps work area properly supplied.
- Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
- Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
- Knowledge of CT positioning, use of technical factors and radiation safety practices.
- Knowledge of CT non-invasive and invasive procedures.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal and state regulations related to radiography.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to work functions.
- Skill in operating CT equipment, PACS, and other related systems.
- Ability to react appropriately and perform work effectively under stressful and emergent situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, family, staff, and physicians.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
- Ability to care for diverse patients throughout the age continuum.
- Ability to exercise courtesy and professionalism in the work environment.
- Ability to practice proper body mechanics to ensure personal and patient safety.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patients and families in accordance with HIPPA regulations and hospital procedures.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Current State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
